My favorite underrated character ever

My favorite underrated character ever was played by Elliott Lewis on the Burns and Allen Show in 1948.  He didn't have a name; he was a delivery 'boy' and he always ruined whatever he delivered to George Burns.

Have a listen:

Elliott Lewis as delivery boy

More negative stuff: Mary Livingstone

More sparks on my 'dislike meter' as I briefly discuss Mary Livingstone.

No, I'm not podcasting the episode; simply talking about the episode with just a few sound bites.

Too hot to podcast!

I have to run an industrial fan to keep cool during this brutal summer.  I can't record anything with that fan going.

Hopefully it will cool off soon and I can get back to podcasting again.

If you have an idea about what I should podcast about, please let me know...

See you back here soon.

Mini-series: how and why I created my blogs: The OTR Buffet

I've been asked to talk about my blogs; how and why I created them and the evolution of them.

I will release these in a series.  The first podcast will be about the OTR Buffet and how that all first came about.

An interview with Keith Heltsley about Vic and Sade

Yes, I'm still on a Vic and Sade rampage here but still have plans to do another podcast that's not Vic and Sade this week...

But now, an audio interview I did with Keith Heltsley, who runs the fun Retro Radio Podcast and I ask him a squillion questions about Vic and Sade.

In a mood to podcast - Vic and Sade

I'm nearing the end of the Vic and Sade series and I thought to myself, "This is a good time for a Vic and Sade Podcast!"

So here I am!

Vic and Sade is my favorite show and I know there are those of you out there who can't stand the show... but it's THE show for me.

I do plan on podcasting a bit more, hopefully more in this style here.  No reading of notes or scripts, simply off the cuff with a lot of editing.

I hoped to get an hour out of this but it boils down to about 30 minutes but it's packed with nothing but me as there are no sound clips.

I talk about my first few days of listening to the series, I talk about the family and their oddities, the odd things that show up over and over and some other things that deal with the show.

This may only be part one of the podcast or it might be the only part... who knows?

I'll try and supply another podcast in the next week or so that won't be about Vic and Sade...

Hope you will check back!

Lum and Abner: An angry fan talks honestly

95% me talking - 5% clips; today I am full of beans!

In this podcast, I take an honest and upfront look at Lum and Abner and point out all of the flaws with the show and ask some burning, scathing questions.

I put real emotion and feelings into this podcast. You will cry, you will laugh; the podcast today comes from my heart.

I love Lum and Abner but enough is enough!

Since today's podcast is a bit different, I would appreciate your comments (you can post anonymously if you'd like.)

Baby Snooks (Baby Snooks Learns)

All 5 of Baby Snooks songs from the 1938 album, "Baby Snooks Learns."

This podcast lasts 20 minutes so be aware - but worth the 10 extra minutes if you ask me as all 5 songs are fun and Hanley Stafford is in some of the recordings as well.

Vox-Pop

Vox-Pop started out as a quiz show in which people on the street were interviewed for small cash prizes (a dollar an answer!)

Soon after the tragedy of Pearl Harbor though, the show changed its format and became serious, with compelling interviews with servicemen and women and their families.

John Gibson

Actor John Gibson reflects back on his career in radio. One of radio's consummate character actors, he played in all the various Crime Photographer titles and thousands of other radio programs. You may be surprised to know that he created and played the role of 'Sleepy' in Disney's animated Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Vic and Sade

Today's theme is The Best... and today I would love to share with you what I have found to be the best Vic and Sade episode I have come across so far.  I removed the intro and exit of the show so only the meat of the program remains - and so this podcast lasts a little more than 11 minutes.

This is from April 15, 1940.  The sound quality of the show is not perfect and I am still having some trouble with my microphone.  My apologies for both.

Tales of the Texas Rangers

A short review of Tales of the Texas Rangers. Listener 'Cal' sent in a bit about the show and so I went and built a review around that.

The show starred Joel McCrea as Jace Pearson.

Feel free to send in your own bits and pieces of stuff - I will work with it!

The sound quality today is pretty bad and I will do my best to rectify this ASAP. Please bear with me.
